WTF Announces Athletes Competing at Innaugural World Taekwondo GP

The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has announced that almost 250 athletes from 58 countries worldwide will compete at the inaugural World Taekwondo GP in Manchester, UK, between 13 and 15 December, demonstrating the global appeal of the sport.

Seven of the eight gold medallists at London 2012 and 16 of the 2013 World Championships gold medallists will take to the mat in Manchester. The three day competition will feature competition across eight different weight categories.

“We are very excited to announce the athletes that will be competing at the inaugural World Taekwondo GP. With so many of the world’s best taekwondo athletes competing it is set to be a truly special event and I am sure that it will set the standard for an excellent series over the next three years.

“Next month’s competition adds to the huge sense of anticipation in our sport right now. The World Taekwondo GP series will provide opportunities for taekwondo to realise its full commercial potential while at the same time bringing world-class competitions to athletes and fans in different cities across the world.”
